We speak for ourselves. Prisoners take the floor

As part of the political art festival wienwoche 2024, a competition was organised in Austrian correctional institutions. Nearly 200 works from 19 prisons were and exhibited for ten days at Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz. The exhibition attracted around 800 visitors.

Additionally, an extensive accompanying program was organised, including interviews with former prisoners, films about prison uprisings, and panel discussions.

The project was led by Robert Bogić and Monika Mokre, who also produced the documentation, and was co-curated by Miriam Surányi, Cansu Tandoğan, and Jean Revret.
