In our film series “Beyond Prison,” we address questions that go beyond the conventional notion of prison: forms of resistance inside and outside the walls, closeness despite isolation, and alternatives to punishment and incarceration.
As a solidarity group of the Union for the Rights of Prisoners, we advocate for the abolition of prisons. We believe that a liberated society must find ways of dealing with harm, pain, and injustice other than locking people up. However, in the current situation, we see the need to improve conditions in prison. That is why, for example, we regularly write letters to prisons in order to break through the isolation to some extent and bring the voices of prisoners to the outside world.
The film series shows how the existing prison system can be questioned in very different, creative, and concrete ways.
We want to learn together and In this way, we want to learn together and search for possibilities for solidarity and resistance against isolation.
We cordially invite everyone to join us in exploring our questions about a society without prisons and equal rights for all – in prison and beyond.
